Boop (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Boop mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

• Account information — your name, email address, and password (or authentication token if you sign in with Apple or Google)

• Profile information — profile photo, pronouns, and any bio or description you choose to add

• Dog profiles — your dog’s name, breed, age, weight, sex, and photo

• Trainer profile information — if you are a trainer, your certifications, specialties, training philosophy, service area, rates, and profile photo

• Messages — the content of direct messages you send to other users through the app

• Reviews — written reviews and star ratings you submit for trainers

• Session information — session dates, times, notes, and status updates related to bookings you create or participate in

• Report cards — training notes and progress reports created by trainers for their clients

Information Collected Automatically

• Location data — with your permission, we collect your approximate location to help you find trainers near you. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.

• Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for debugging and support purposes

• Usage data — how you interact with the app (screens visited, features used) to help us improve the Service. This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity.

• Push notification tokens — a device token used to send you push notifications if you have enabled them

Information From Third Parties

• Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in using Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from those services as permitted by their privacy policies

• Referral codes — if you joined Boop through a referral link from an existing trainer, we record that association

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account

• Enable you to find and connect with dog trainers (or dog owners, if you are a trainer)

• Facilitate session bookings, confirmations, and updates

• Deliver messages between users

• Send push notifications about sessions, messages, and app activity (only if you have enabled notifications)

• Display trainer profiles, reviews, and report cards

• Improve and debug the Service

• Respond to your support requests

• Enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

With Other Users

Certain information on your profile is visible to other users of the app:

• Dog owner profiles: your first name, profile photo, and dog profiles are visible to trainers you interact with

• Trainer profiles: your name, photo, bio, specialties, certifications, location, rates, and reviews are visible to all users searching for trainers

Direct messages are only visible to you and the other party in the conversation.

With Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. Your data is stored on Supabase’s infrastructure. See Supabase’s privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.

• OneSignal — our push notification provider. Your device token is shared with OneSignal to deliver notifications. See OneSignal’s privacy policy at onesignal.com/privacy-policy.

• Apple / Google — if you use Sign-In with Apple or Sign-In with Google, those services handle authentication. See Apple’s and Google’s respective privacy policies.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of Boop or its users, or investigate potential violations of our Terms of Service.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or preventing fraud).

Messages and session records may be retained in anonymized form for safety and dispute resolution purposes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you

• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information

• Delete your account and associated personal data

• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings

• Disable location access at any time through your device settings

California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

6. Children’s Privacy

Boop is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Your data is stored on Supabase’s infrastructure, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
